Delt Alum ‘Pedals to the Point’; Raises $50,000+ for MS

written by (Delt ‘08)

On the weekend of August 15th-16th, over 2,300 people from all over Ohio embarked on a journey covering a path of over 150 miles from Berea, OH to Sandusky, OH, and back in an effort to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Ohio Buckeye Chapter. This epic display of strength, endurance, and bicycles you ask? Pedal to the Point.

Among the 210 teams that registered for the event, this was Team Deloitte Cleveland’s 5th year participating, and it has been growing each year. This year, Team Deloitte Cleveland raised $51,015, and the event raised a total of $1,057,698 for the 18,000+ Ohioans who suffer from MS.

Participating in this event was truly an amazing experience, and I was honored to be apart of such a tremendous fundraising effort. The dedication displayed by some people, and the effort that went into planning the event put forth by everyone was inspiring. The 150 mile bike ride, 75 miles each day, was a very challenging physical feat for me, especially on the 2nd day when temperatures hit the 90+ degree mark on the road. I would consider myself a “fit” and “in-shape” individual, but by the end of the ride I had pain in parts of my body that I never knew existed! All pain aside, participating in Pedal to the Point was one of the best fundraising events of which I have been a part of. The cause, the people, the energy, and the experience as a whole is something that I look forward to doing for many years to come.
